"People go crazy over Mitch's work. He's a great representation of our state." Nicole Dematteo, Cypress Custom Framing. Inside Northside Magazine called Mitch Kilgore "the quintessential Louisiana artist". His fans agree. For more than 40 years, he's been designing and creating things from wood, or as the artist
himself puts it freeing them. "When I find the pieces of wood I want to work with, I can already see the fish - or other creature - in there, "Kilgore said. "I rescue it with a chainsaw. Then I find out what it looks like, as I carve."
Mitch Kilgore enthusiasts know he loves to talk, loves to tell stories, loves his wife, Marie, 10 grandkids, and loves God. Living and creating in the piney woods of South East Louisiana, he's seen his work featured on the covers and within the pages of national and regional magazines. "All praise for any success I've had goes to my Creator who watches over every project and offers me direction," he said. "Its humbling to realize that through my creations of often times
silly fish, I can make people smile and hopefully bring attention to the Lord by being open and unashamed in this format and encouraging others to follow suit.
God saw fit to graciously grant me the skillset to create my art; to play in wood while serving Him at the same time. To Him be the glory!"
